The further into Absolute Carnage we get, the more I get the feeling that only comics inseparably tied to the symbiotes are going to be any good. While Absolute Carnage: Miles Morales #1 has the benefit of Miles having some part in the Absolute Carnage crossover and having been involved in Donny Cates’ Venom, it doesn’t take advantage of that. The Absolute Carnage event is upon us and with it comes a bevy of tie-in miniseries. The first of those, and one of the ones I was most excited for, is Scream, featuring the eponymous symbiote and former She-Venom Patricia Robertson. While my expectations were relatively low, the issue doesn’t aspire to any lofty heights — it just wants to be a fun comic, and it succeeds in being just that.

Best Comic Issues of 2018

2018 was an uneven year in terms of comics. A lot of series that were good took a nosedive, while others that were terrible managed to crawl their way to readability and sometimes even quality.
